Wrexham won’t be rushed in their search for a new manager.
Sam Ricketts is now in charge at Shrewsbury Town, while his former Dragons assistant Graham Barrow has stepped up at the Racecourse.
Wrexham play Eastleigh at the Racecourse on Saturday in a Vanarama National League clash.
Former Wigan and Chester manager Barrow has taken charge of team matters while directors work on a Ricketts replacement.
“They know that they don’t need to be rash,” says Barrow.
“I see this more as a long-term thing. The club have to take their time and get it right for everybody.
“It is a good job and I think there will be some reasonable names in the hat.
Barrow joined Wrexham in July as part of Ricketts’ coaching team and has now signed a two-and-a-half year extension to his contract to continue as assistant manager.
Barrow told wrexhamafc.co.uk: “It was never in any doubt in my mind. My main concern has been the players and the club. I’m happy the people in charge and the fans feel the same way.
”The players are still in good spirits. Nothing has really changed for me. Looking back at my career in football I have been through these situations before.
“I’m happy at Wrexham, happy to be staying here. This club has so much passion around it. I remember going for an early morning walk around Portugal during our pre-season stay there and seeing all of the flags everywhere. It’s an amazing club with passionate people around it.
“I hear the voices of the supporters every week, there is always a buzz around the place. It’s why I’m in football. I’m going to carry on doing the best I can for Wrexham now and that’s all I’m concerned about.”
Wrexham are without suspended captain Shaun Pearson and Brad Walker, while Rekeil Pyke, on loan from Huddersfield Town, remains out with a hamstring injury.
Captain Pearson has signed a new two-and-a-half year deal to keep him at the Racecourse until 2021.
Wrexham’s Emirates FA Cup replay against Newport County will be played on Tuesday, December 11 (7.45pm) at Rodney Parade.
The game is all-ticket for visiting Wrexham supporters.
