Chaz Davies Targeting Spanish Success

Chaz Davies is ready to take his World Superbikes title bid up a notch in this weekend’s first European round in Spain.

The Knighton-born rider is full of confidence after winning the last race in Thailand last month.

Davies’ win took him to fourth in the standings just 12 points behind three-time defending champ Jonathan Rea.

And the aruba.it Racing Ducati rider has a cracking record on the Aragon track having won there six times aleady.

The 31-year-old said: “I’m excited going into Round Three.

“We’ve put in the work and I feel good on the bike. The win in Thailand was really important and it gives me a lot of confidence, because it’s always been a tough track for us.

“On the other hand, I had a lot of good races at Aragon: first podium, first double and first win with the Panigale R.

“That said, I’ll take it as any other race. It’s been close there in the past, and I expect many riders challenging for the win.

“The racing has been pretty even this year, and on track I haven’t seen big differences between the bikes. I’m ready for the battle”.

World Superbikes have introduced new rules this year in a bid to make the races closer having seen Rea’s Kawasaki team and Ducati dominated in recent seasons.
