Colin Caton Vows To Attack Tre Fiori As Bala Town Seek Revenge

Bala Town manager Colin Caton says he team will attack from the off as his side look to overturn a three-goal deficit in Thursday night’s home leg against (6.30).

The Lakesiders collapsed to a disappointing 3-0 defeat in San Marino last week and a preliminary round exit from the Europa League will be considered as a failure for the Welsh Premier League runners up.

Bala Town were stunned when Tre Fiori scored three times in the opening 36-minutes of the first leg and Caton is hoping this time, it will be his side who’re grabbing the early goals.

“We’ll change our shape a little bit and just go out there to win the game, because we’ve got nothing to lose,” he told the WPL official site.

“We’re confident, we know as a group if we can get a goal or two in the first half then we think they’ll crumble, but we just want to get out there now and play.”

Bala were dealt the humiliating defeat after a collection of defensive errors allowed Tre Fiori to take a commanding lead into the return leg which is being played at Rhyl FC’s Belle Vue stadium.

Caton says his team must now put those mistakes behind them and show their true quality.

“It is hard to stomach defensive mistakes like the ones we made last week, but we’re perfectly capable of turning this around and we’ll do everything we can to get the goals we need to go through.

“I’m very disappointed because the mistakes we made were massive, uncharacteristic errors really which we could never have envisaged nor planned for.

“I think in many respects we were the much better team on the night, but you can’t go out and make the mistakes we made on the night and expect to come away from the game with a win.

“We had plenty of opportunities on the night, as well as around 80% of the possession and we were the miles better team – they celebrated after winning the game as if they’d won the tie, but we can definitely turn this around.”

Should Bala Town complete an extraordinary comeback, they will not only face Slovenian outfit NK Rudar Velenje but would also land a €240,000 prize money windfall for reaching the Europa League first qualifying round.

“We’ve always been up against the odds as a football club, we’ve never made things easy for ourselves ever since I’ve been at the football club, we’ve always done things the hard way.”
