Evans Looking For Another Top Six Finish On Rally Sweden

Elfyn Evans is on course for a second top six World Rally Championship finish in a succession at Rally Sweden.

The Dolgeallau-born driver goes into the final day in sixth overall having climbed up from ninth overnight.

Evans was sixth on his championship return at Monte Carlo last month in his DMACK Ford Fiesta WRC car.

The 28-year-old often had the worst of the conditions and complained of a lack of grip at times on the snowy roads.

He has a cushion of one minute 16 secs over the seventh-placed driver as he looks to add more world championship points on today’s final stage.

Evans did manage to take some time at the service park to catch up with the rugby only to see Wales agonisingly lose to England in the Six Nations.

He said on twitter: “Watching the rugby at service in didn’t make today any better! 6th overnight.”

Evans did capitalise when two of his rivals suffered crashes and plummeted down the leaderboard.

Northern Ireland’s Kris Meeke was fifth when he ploughed into a snow bank and lost eight minutes as spectators pulled his Citroen clear.

And Belgium’s Thierry Neuville has lost the lead for the second rally in a rfow when he crashed on the final stage breaking his steering.
