Former Cardiff City Boss Russell Slade Back In Management at Coventry City

Russell Slade has been named as new manager of League One strugglers Coventry City.

The ex-Cardiff City boss takes over with the Sky Blues in 23rd spot and two points from safety.

Slade has agreed a deal for the rest of the season with his first game in charge the Boxing Day clash with Bristol Rovers.

Coventry’s technical director Mark Venus, who had been in interim charge, said:“We are pleased to have secured the services of a highly-rated manager who has experience both at League One level and higher.

“Russell has been at football clubs in challenging circumstances before and has experience of steering them through to safety.

“The club believe that Russell is the right man to take Coventry City forward and hope that everyone will give him their full support.”

Slade was axed as manager of Charlton earlier this season after just 16 games in charge.

The 56-year-old quit City in the summer having been booted upstairs by owner Vincent Tan after missing out on the Championship play-offs last season.
