Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin admits he could be sacked if his team lose to Liverpool on Saturday.

The Swans sit 17th in the Premier League table with one win, one draw and four defeats from their six games so far.

Guidolin attempted to shift the focus off himself at his press conference on Thursday but he did admit he recently met with chairman Huw Jenkins to discuss his future.

When asked if a defeat to Liverpool could signal the end for him, Guidolin said: “Maybe. Could be. It could happen.

“I spoke with the chairman last week but at the moment, the most important thing is for me to work with my players and my team on the training ground and to prepare for the next game with focus and concentration.

“Yes, I know it’s not a good moment for our team but it is because of the table and we need results. But we can get the result if we play well and I am confident because this is a good team with good players.

“But at the moment my position is not important, Swansea’s position are important. Our colours are most important and the most important (thing) is to have a result and improve our table.”

Recent reports have claimed Jenkins has met with former USA coach Bob Bradley, while Ryan Giggs has been installed as the bookies’ favourite to succeed Guidolin if he loses his job.

The 60-year-old Italian refused to comment on the speculation when asked, insisting he remains focused on helping Swansea win.

Guildolin said: “It’s not my problem. The chairman is honest and direct with me, he has never said something about this.

“I spoke to the chairman last week, but I don’t need this. I need just to work and to get results because this is football. Without results, words are not important.

“It is important to win. It is clear for me, for chairman and everybody.”
