James Carson Leads Wales To 4th Place Finish In Nicosia

Welsh skipper James Carson was happy with his side’s fourth place in the EuroHockey Indoor Championships III in Nicosia after three days of action that saw them pick up two wins and two draws.

Will Riley, Kit Cutter, Jolyon Morgan, Mike Wood, Ben Clague all scored their first senior international goals in the 14-0 win over host nation Cyprus and they only failed to score in their 4-0 defeat to third place Scotland.

“It was a fantastic experience for a young side looking to progress into the senor ranks. Our first game was a bit slow but we grew hugely throughout the tournament and we had some tight games and some good wins,” said Wales skipper James Carson.

Next up are the Welsh Women, who will meet Austria, Belgium, Croatia, England, Lithuania, Scotland and Sweden in the EuroHockey Women’s Indoor Championship II in Brussels between 19-21 January.
