Jeremiah Azu has been forced to pull out of the European Championships in Rome due to injury.

The Cardiff sprinter would have been one of Britain’s major medal contenders having hit the form of his life.

Azu became the first Welshman to legally break the 10 seconds barrier for the 100m last month.

But his withdrawal was confirmed by the British team this morning.

CJ Ujah will take Azu’s spot in the 100m and as part of the men’s sprint relay team for the champs which get underway in the Italian capital on Friday. (June 7)
