Jones Looking For European Glory In Montreux

Jade Jones is desperate to win the European title in Switzerland on Friday as the next step to becoming a taekwondo legend.

The Olympic champ had to settle for silver in Baku two years ago but is targeting -57Kg gold in Montreux in the last major event before she defends her Games crown in Rio.

Jones, 23, triumphed on her last outing in the German Open in her first event after four months on the sidelines with a knee problem.

The Flint fighter said: “I’m really going for that gold medal as I have not got one from the Europeans so I’m hungry for it.

“I want to be European, World and Olympic gold medallist.

“London in 2012 was just the best experience of my life and to only have been 19 and to win an Olympic gold medal on home soil, I don’t think I can beat that moment.

“But to go to Rio and do it again and show it wasn’t a fluke and to become double Olympic champion, that would be legendary status and that’s what I really want to do.”
