Kieran Smith Returns To Bala Town, Aber Swoop For Striker

Colin Caton’s Phase 2 plans have been boosted by the return of a second former player the club have confirmed.

Following the re-signing of midfielder Rob Pearson last week, Bala Town have added Kieran Smith to their ranks.

Smith returns to Maes Tegid after departing at the end of last season to play out in New Zealand with Pearson.

Smith who can operate up-front or out wide made 123 appearances for the Lakesiders in his first spell with the club, signing off a Welsh Cup winning goal against The New Saints at the end of last season.

“Like the Rob Pearson situation Kieran messaged me to say he was coming home from New Zealand early. I was devastated to lose Kieran in pre-season but his message saying he was coming home early was great news,” said Colin Caton. “Kieran will give us much needed fire power and competition for places with us only having three forwards in the form of Mike Hayes, Les Davies and Ian Sheridan. His energy and work rate will give us a lot of options.”

Aberystwyth have moved to sign striker Kurt Sherlock, who becomes the second player to join the club from Radcliffe FC in the current transfer window.

The 26-year-old follows midfielder Tom Owens to Park Avenue after scoring four goals in five appearances for the Evo-Stick side.

Sherlock is Aberystwyth’s fourth signing of the window following the arrival of Owens, Damien Allen and goalkeeper Adam Walters, who signed from Aberystwyth University last week.
