Martyrs Hoping Big Striker Ryan Returns Soon

Merthyr Town are hoping big striker Ryan Prosser will be ready for a return to action soon after their enforced break from fixtures.

The Martyrs have had two fixtures postponed, don’t have a match until they travel to Chesham United on Saturday, November 18 and Prosser has been making progress in his rehabilitation.

He hasn’t made an appearance this season, but has been having treatment and is crucial to Merthyr hopes of sustaining a promotion challenge in the Southern League Premier Division.

Prosser’s return would give manager Gavin Williams genuine selection options, particularly now that centre-half Matthew Harris is ready for action.

Harris was among the Merthyr substitutes for their 1-1 draw at Redditch United after returning from a successful loan spell at Welsh League Briton Ferry Llansawel.

He had been out injured for two years and has worked hard over the last few months to regain match fitness.

Williams has always made it clear Harris has a big part to play for Merthyr over the rest of this season.

Merthyr made a number of changes to their team at Redditch with Jarred Wright not included in the 19-man squad.

The back four in front of goalkeeper Oliver Davies was Adam Davies, Kyle Patten, Curtis McDonald and Scott Hancock.

Ashley Evans, Robbie Patten and Eliot Richards were in midfield with Ian Traylor, Kerry Morgan and Stuart Fleetwood in a three-man attack.

On the bench were goalscorer Kyle Copp, Jaye Bowen, Corey Jenkins, Harris and Jenkins plus Josh Flower from the club’s development team.

Jenkins, Flower and Copp all went on during the match.
