Manager Graham Westley and his Exiles day not lose the shoot-out against Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road (3pm).

County are bottom of League Two, six points behind the Robins with a game in hand.

The initial release of 500 tickets for the away section has been sold, while there are another 500 available at cash only turnstiles before kick-off.

With a journey time of only an hour from Newport to Cheltenham there is a lot of interest in what is a crucial match.

Westley looks certain to recall Josh Sheehan, the 21-year-old midfield playmaker who was left out of the team for Newport’s 3-1 home win against Hartlepool United.

Sheehan, who has extended his loan from Swansea City until the end of this season, was named among the substitutes because the Rodney Parade playing surface is so poor.

The rest gave Sheehan a chance to fully recover from a gash in his ankle and Westley has hinted broadly that he will be back.

Newport made major changes to their squad during the transfer window, bringing in 12 players plus Sheehan, whose loan was due to expire until Swansea agreed to an extension.

Nine players went out and they were Jack Jebb, Josh O’Hanlon, Jon Parkin, Abdoulaye Meite, Rhys Healey, Kyle Cameron, Jordan Green, Dafydd Jones and Ben Jones, while

Westley also has four players ruled out by injuries, while Mark Randall, Ben Tozer and Jack Compton have all been told they won’t be playing again this season.

He is likely to make one change from the team against Hartlepool with Sheehan stepping up and possibly Craig Reid dropping out.

Newport are on a high after their win against Hartlepool and are unbeaten in three League Two matches, earning five points from a possible nine.

Newport County, probable: Day; Nelson, Jones, O’Brien; Pipe, Bennett, Rose, Butler; Sheehan, Bird, Williams. Subs: Bittner, Reid, Demetriou, Rigg, Bojaj, Flynn, Samuel, Owen-Evans.
