North Wales Rivals Meet In Welsh Cup Draw

North Wales coast rivals Bangor City and Caernarfon Town have been drawn together in what is the stand-out tie of the JD Welsh Cup fourth round draw.

The two sides will face each other at Bangor City’s Nantporth Stadium in front of what is likely to be a bumper crowd on the weekend of 25/26 January.

The last-16 tie is the fourth round in succession where Bangor have been drawn at home, having so far faced Mold Alexandra, Cefn Albion and last weekend, Holyhead Hotspur.

Caernarfon Town advanced following a comfortable 3-0 away win against Prestatyn Town.

Current Welsh Cup holders Connah’s Quay visit Carmarthen Town, Barry Town host Cefn Druids and Aberystwyth Town will face Cardiff Met in three all-WPL ties.

After eliminating Llanelli at the weekend, Llangefni, the competition’s lowest ranked club, playing in Tier 3, will face another WPL club in the form of Llandudno.

The winners of the yet-to-be-played third round tie between Flint Town United and Bala Town will head to West Wales to face Haverfordwest County.

The New Saints can expect a difficult away visit to Airbus UK Broughton, whilst two Tier 2 sides, Cambrian & Clydach and Rhyl will face each other in south Wales.
