Ruscoe Calm Ahead Of Barry Town Visit

The New Saints manager Scott Ruscoe is refusing to panic ahead of his side’s visit to Jenner Park this afternoon.

His Saints side visit Jenner Park, where Barry Town have a 100 percent record this season, and the champions are looking for their first win in four matches.

The New Saints are coming off back-to-back defeats and are three points off Gavin Chesterfield’s men, who are currently joint-leaders of the JD Welsh Premier League along with Connah’s Quay, who don’t play until Wednesday.

A win would move Barry Town six points clear of the champions, but Ruscoe remains calm.

“We’ve been there for before and know exactly what is needed,” he said. “That’s not to say any other teams don’t know how to, but we’re long in the tooth at doing it – we’re not champions for just turning up and expecting to win.”

After shock defeats to Caernarfon and Aberystwyth, the Saints boss refuses to panic: “All I’m looking at and concentrating on is our team and making sure we’re positive and going again on Saturday.

“It happens from in any league at any level, where a team that is having constant success has a little blip.”

Wales U19 international defender Ben Cabango is suspended for Saints, while Chesterfield is believed to have a fully-fit squad available to him.

Nev Powell has praised his Aberystwyth Town team as they head to fourth-placed Bala Town in search of a fifth-straight win. A string of wins has powered the Seasiders into the top-six.

“The lads are playing with a lot of confidence and there’s not many teams that go four wins on the bounce in this league.”

Caernarfon Town and Cardiff Met are both looking to close the gap on the top-six spot in the televised game (5.15).

Llandudno entertain Carmarthen Town, while bottom-side Llanelli host Cefn Druids looking to end their miserable run. The Reds have conceded 13 goals in their last two outings and require a dramatic turnaround after losing 10 of their last 11 games.
