Swan Angel Rangel Ruled Out For Rest Of Season

Angel Rangel will miss the rest of Swansea City’s season after breaking a bone in his right foot.

The Spanish defender suffered the injury during his team’s 2-1 defeat at Hull City on Saturday and went off before half-time.

Scans have revealed that Angel has broken a metatarsal, one of five long bones in his foot, and is expected to be out for around eight to 12 weeks.
The 34-year-old will have an operation this week and said on Twitter, ““I’m absolutely gutted. It’s a big set-back, but I’ll come back stronger.’’

With Rangel out, Swans manager Paul Clement will hope fellow full-back Kyle Naughton returns to training this week after missing the game at Hull with a slight hamstring problem.

The club are also awaiting news of an ankle injury sustained by left back Martin Olsson.

Clement’s other options at full-back would be young Scot Stephen Kingsley or turning to central defenders Jordi Amat – who came on at Hull – or Mike van der Hoorn.

The defeat left Swansea 16th in the table, three points above the final relegation spot which is occupied by Hull.

Swansea’s next Premier League match is at Bournemouth on Saturday.
