Swansea City could be boosted by the return of Martin Olsson and Jack Cork for their vital trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.

Both players missed the victory over Stoke City, which breathed new life into the club’s bid to avoid relegation, but head coach Paul Clement has confirmed they may be ready to return against Manchester United.

Cork has been having treatment on an ankle injury, whilst Olsson is battling to overcome a hamstring problem. Leroy Fer – who limped off last Saturday – is also expected to recover from a dead leg for a game which Clement feels has taken on a different complexion after their change in momentum.

Having admitted he may have erred in ignoring Leon Britton’s claims for selection until last week, Clement now feels Swansea have turned the corner in their battle for Premier League survival.

The club ended a run of six games without a win by beating Stoke 2-0 last weekend, but remain in the relegation zone with four games remaining.

Clement’s side are currently two points adrift of Hull, who are away to Southampton this weekend.

“I am very confident that we will stay up,” said Clement.

“Maybe I would not have been if we had not got that good result and good performance against Stoke.

“I think it gives us a lot of confidence that we have turned a corner after a difficult period.

“We had not been performing that well going into the Stoke game and that run lasted much longer than we would have liked.

“But the players showed that when the anxiety is high they can still play very well.

“Myself and the players are very confident we can get valuable points in the last four home games.”

Wins for Hull and Swansea last weekend have left Burnley looking anxiously behind them.

The Clarets are three points better off than Hull and have five more than 18th-placed Swansea.

Middlesbrough, meanwhile, have moved within four points of Swansea after beating bottom club Sunderland on Wednesday night.

Having previously stated that the final relegation place was a straight fight between Hull and Swansea, Clement now feels more teams are involved.

He said: ” Burnley have not picked up many results and could possibly be pulled back.

“Middlesbrough had a good result and, with four games left, they’ll still have belief.

“I don’t think it is just two teams with still 12 points to play for and a lot of football to be played.

“I do believe it will go to the last game, but we cannot rely on anybody else.

“We are playing Manchester United this weekend and we cannot focus on what other teams are doing.”

Hull have the chance to steal a march on Swansea as they play Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

But Clement says the result of that game does not affect his pre-match planning.

“Whether Hull win, lose or draw, we still have got to play Manchester United, Everton, Sunderland and West Brom and get as many points as we can,” Clement said.

“We cannot influence anything outside. I cannot control how they are going to play and get results.

“I can only influence my team and we can only focus on ourselves and putting in a good performance against United.”
