Paul Trollope confirmed Cardiff City are seeking squad reinforcements after their toothless Championship defeat at home to Queens Park Rangers.
The Bluebirds manager saw his side lose 2-0 on Sunday as they failed to score for the third successive match so far this season.
That lack of punch will prompt Trollope to try and sign another forward before the transfer window closes at the end of August, but he insisted: “The three games so far have not changed my thinking on who we would like to sign.
“The targets are the same as they were – they remain the players we are keen on. It’s not a case of reacting to recent results.
“But we are obviously disappointed with the start we have made and we need to improve.”
A powerful header from former Cardiff captain Steve Caulker 15 minutes from time enlivened an uneventful match, before Tjarron Chery’s penalty made the game safe for QPR and took them to the top of the table.
By contrast, Cardiff are in 17th spot with just a point from their opening two League matches.
City enjoyed plenty of possession, but striker Freddy Gounongbe was a blunt instrument alongside Anthony Pilkington up front and Kenneth Zahore did little to threaten in his brief spell from off the bench.
Trollope added: “We didn’t think our goal was under too much threat. QPR came at us in the second half and pushed us back, but it’s very disappointing to concede two goals from set-plays.
“They were both from poor decisions by our defenders, firstly to concede the free-kick for the first goal in an innocuous position.
“Then, when you’re hoping to find a way back, the defender (Bruno Manga) lunged in with the player’s back to him, so we can’t argue with the penalty decision.”
