Llandudno have moved quickly to replace recently departed striker John Owen with the signing of veteran Welsh Premier League striker Les Davies.

‘The Truck’ becomes the latest addition to Iwan Williams’ relegation threatened squad, joining from Bangor City.

Davies made 24 appearances for Bala Town last season before re-joining former club Bangor City.

The 34 year old is in line to make his Llandudno debut in Saturday’s crunch clash against fellow relegation candidates Llanelli.

“There’s no denying we’ve lacked power in the final third. Les is as experienced as they come and is suited for the fight we have ahead of us,” said Williams.

“He is great In both boxes and will add so much to us as a team. He will give us a lift as you know what you get from him, He wanted to come in and help us get out of trouble, so I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Davies, a former Welsh Premier League winner, arrives at the Giant Hospitality Stadium a day after John Owen’s switch to WPL rivals Cefn Druids was confirmed.

In a busy week of transfer activity Llandudno have also completed the signing of former Aberystwyth Town midfielder Tom Owens.

“Tom is a disciplined holding midfielder with bags of experience. He helped Aberystwyth reach the Welsh Cup final and his attributes are his distribution, his tenaciousness, work rate and his height,” said Williams.

“We have been a small team recently so adding Tom will also add power in the air and given his is so disciplined, it will enable us to release the other midfielders we have to get higher up the pitch.

“Tom is a great lad and is very versatile and a great acquisition to the fight we have in front of us as his strength of character is second to none.”

Llandudno have also recruited Zebb Edwards (Holywell Town), Jay Gibbs (Porthmadog) and Ryan Wade (Airbus) while Ben Clarke has extended his loan deal from The New Saints until the end of season.

Leo Smith has completed a successful loan spell with the club and returns to Wrexham.
