A first away game of the season ended in a thrashing on England’s south coast for the South Wales Warriors.

The Welshmen had travelled to Southampton to face the Solent Thrashers with both teams still searching for their first win of the season.

In the second quarter the Warriors gave up a deep pass across the middle of the field for the Thrashers opening score. The touchdown was converted for a 7-0 half-time lead for the home side.

A short range rushing touchdown in the third quarter allowed the Thrashers to double their advantage. The Thrashers then added a second rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter but failed with their attempted two point conversion.

Defeat leaves the Warriors at the foot of the British American Football Association (BAFA) Southern Conference Division One Central table having failed to win any of their opening four fixtures.

The Warriors are next in action on Saturday night when they travel to Brighton for a 5pm kick off against the unbeaten division leaders the Sussex Thunder. The Thunder ran out 14-8 winners in their last game, against the Warriors, in Llanharan.
