Welsh Cyclings Reveal Dates For Extended MTB Cross-Country Series

The 2017 Welsh Cycling MTB Cross-country Series has been extended to five rounds for 2017.

The series – including the Welsh MTB Cross-country Championships, will be co-ordinated by Welsh Cycling and supported by clubs and event organisers across Wales.

The series opens in Afan Forest Park, Neath Port Talbot in March. It’s a welcome return to the calendar for the venue, a favourite with local riders and will be supported by A Cycling’s Matt Page.

Clwb Beicio Dyffryn Conwy will host round two of the series at Coed Llandegla Forest, Denbighshire in May. As one of the UK’s leading trail centres, expect an adrenalin-filled course with thrills and spills.

Round three will be hosted by Ystwyth CC returning to Allt Ddel, Aberystwyth in May. The Welsh MTB XC Series will kick off the Aber Cycle Fest, with an action packed week of cycling activities to follow the event.

June will see the fourth round of the series head to Builth Wells, Powys and supported by The Bulls and John Lloyd Racing Ltd.

A series favourite, round four in Builth Wells will also incorporate the 2017 Welsh Cycling MTB Cross-country Championships.

The series will conclude on Sunday 30 July, with Sosban Riders promoting the fifth and final round at Pembrey Country Park, Carmarthenshire.

The same venue will also host the first round of the HSBC UK National Mountain Bike Cross-country Series in April.

There will be racing for Under 8s through to Grand Veterans at each round of the series. Riders must compete in four out of five rounds to qualify for the overall series title.

To qualify for the Welsh Cycling MTB Cross-country Championships, riders must fulfil the eligibility criteria and enter before the advertised closing date.
