Woodburn Signs Long-Term Deal With Liverpool

Wales’ teenage sensation Ben Woodburn has signed a long-term deal with Liverpool.

The Reds have not revealed how long the the new deal is for, but it is reportedly for five years.

The 18-year-old – who scored on his Wales debut against Austria in September – said: “It’s an unbelievable feeling to sign a new contract with Liverpool.

”This is the club I want to stay at and be here as long as possible.

“When I was told, all I wanted to do was sign the contract. It feels good. Now I just want to carry on and hopefully show the manager what I can do.

Woodburn became Liverpool’s youngest scorer -breaking the record set by Michael Owen – when he scored in an EFL Cup victory over Leeds last season aged 17 years and 45 days.

The Chester-born prospect joined Liverpool’s academy as an under-7s player and has risen and has risen through the ranks to establish himself in Jurgen KIopp’s first team squad.

He has now made four appearances for Wales including that incredible debut against Austria when he netted the winner.

He added: “I think there is loads of room for improvement. I’ve just got to keep working and trying in training every day and hopefully I will improve.”

“Defending and maybe getting a few more goals (are what I want to improve). Just trying to come in with the first team and play like a first-team player.

“But I think I’ve grown as a player and matured physically and technically, and
grown in confidence.

“For the rest of this season, my aim is just to carry on and try to play as many games for the under-19s and first team.”
