Wrexham AFC announced their new limited edition ‘UTST’ badge on the eve of their crucial home clash with Boredom Wood at the Racecourse (3pm).

‘Up The Super Town’ – #UTST – is being used on social media by Dragons’ fans as their team aims for promotion back to the Football League.

Wrexham are unbeaten in 16 Vanarama National League matches, have lost only once at home this season – against leaders Macclesfield 1-0 – are and in the hunt to qualify for the play-offs.

The big problem for manager Andy Davies and his team is that they have drawn too many matches – 17 in the National League – and that means they are off the pace for the lone automatic promotion place.

They badly need a win against Boredom Wood, who are sixth and two points behind Wrexham in the table.

The Reds and Macron Store, Wrexham have announced their third shirt and a special edition club badge for the 2018-19 season.

The ‘UTST’ badge was designed by the club’s media team to encapsulate the special spirit surrounding the club since their pre-season trip to Portugal.

‘Up The Super Town’ has become synonymous with Wrexham AFC supporters since the trip. The hashtag #UTST is being used on social media by fans and a new chant has started echoing from the stands every match.

Included on the new UTST badge are three of the crosses used on the clubs original town coat of arms badge. Also, the traditional Wrexham dragons holding a ball with the date mark 1864 and Wrexham AFC are underneath.

The striking Macron illuminous green ‘SNR Earth Shirts’ will set Wrexham apart on their travels next season and are to be accompanied by black shorts and socks.

When the results of this seasons shirt vote came in as home red and white with away white kits, commercial manager Geoff Scott worked quickly to secure a third choice kit in case of any clashes.

“The badge the badge is fantastic,” said Scott. “It’s really nice to have something unique on our third shirt.”

Club director Spencer Harris said: “When I was told about the designs for this badge I wasn’t keen on the idea. Club branding is a key dimension to ensuring we are instantly recognisable to anyone who sees it.

“But when the Geoff and the media team showed me the finished product it looked absolutely fantastic and I’m sure supporters will feel the same way when they see it in the flesh.”

Wrexham can complete a National League double against Hertfordshire club Boredom Wood on Monday, having won 1-0 at Meadow Park thanks to an Alex Reid goal.
