Airbus UK On The March in Alliance And Welsh Cup

League leaders Airbus Broughton are on a sizzling 100 per cent start to the Huws Gray Alliance season.

Airbus are intent on regaining their place in the Welsh Premier and have started 2018-19 with 12 wins from 12 fixtures.

Their latest Alliance win was a 2-0 success against Denbigh Town with Asa Hamilton netting a goal in each half.

The next test for the Wingmakers is at Holywell Town, while Airbus were on JD Sports Welsh Cup duty last weekend.

They cruised into the third round with a crushing 9-1 demolition of Llay Welfare at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

Welsh National League visitors Llay struggled to cope with the fluent and clinical Wingmakers who dominated from the second minute when Curtis Strong cut into the box from the left and fired past ‘keeper Kyle Flower.

A Joe Chaplin effort was well saved, while Hamilton was denied by an offside flag after netting from a Brady McGilloway cross.

A ball over the top found Chaplin and he lobbed advancing Flower before Matty McGinn fired a shot into the corner from 25 yards.

Lewis Buckley hammered a shot against the bar and the ball dropped down over the line.

The same player added another just before the break and, although Llay went close from a free-kick just after the break, it was Airbus who scored again when McGinn spotted Flower off his line and looped a 30-yarder into the net.

Nathan Quirk hit the bar and James Hooper was narrowly wide before converting at close range from a Strong cross.

A poor back pass caught keeper Dave Roberts in no mans’ land and Alister Gibson took advantage to score a consolation goal for the visitors.

Chaplin added the eighth for Airbus and Quirk rounded off the scoring.
