Brothers Go Head-To-Head In Crunch Clash

Wrexham expect a capacity attendance for Saturday’s crunch clash with Tranmere Rovers at the Racecourse (3pm).

Rovers are making the 30-miles trip from Birkenhead to North Wales knowing a win will lift them above their Vanarama National League rivals.

There will be well over 8,000 spectators at Wrexham with less then 150 tickets remaining.

Former Wrexham midfield player Connor Jennings returns to the Racecourse for the and he’ll go head-to-head with brother James.

Left-back James, 30, four years older than midfield player Connor, is unbeaten in five matches against his sibling.

James was in the Cambridge United team who beat Stockport County, where Connor was on-loan, 4-1 in their first meeting in January 2013.

Both games were drawn in the 2015-16 season when James was in the Forest Green Rovers line-up and Connor turned out for Wrexham.

James played for Wrexham when they beat Connor’s Tranmere 1-0 at Prenton Park in September.

“This will be the fifth time we have played against each other,” said James. “The first time was quite odd but you kind of get used to it after that.

“All our family will be coming again. I have to get a lot of tickets and am looking forward to it.

“I know Connor had a successful time at Wrexham and loved it here.”

Connor has been lining up on the left-wing for Rovers and after netting six goals in four games, he was named the National League Player of the Month for December.

While the Jennings brother contemplate playing against each other, Wrexham manager Dean Keates is working on preparing his team and strengthening the Reds’ squad.

“We are looking at adding signings if we can,” says Keates, whose Wrexham team have kept 16 clean sheets this season and boast the best defensive record in the Vanarama National League.

Chris Holroyd has scored 11 goals for the Reds, who go into the match unbeaten un 2018. Scott Quigley scored twice on his debut at Hartlepool United, while they won 4-0 against Torquay and drew 3-3 when Barrow visited the Racecourse.
