Ryan Giggs will not take charge of Wales for this month’s international games, the Football Association of Wales announced today.

Wales will be led by his assistant Robert Page for the friendly with the United States and Nations Cup games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

The decision comes after the planned squad announcement on Tuesday was postponed amid reports Giggs was arrested and questioned on suspicion of actual bodily harm and assault.

A statement said: “The Football Association of Wales and Ryan Giggs have mutually agreed that he will not be involved in the upcoming international camp.

“Our agreed immediate priority is preparing the team for the upcoming international matches.

“Robert Page, with Ryan’s support, will take charge for the next three matches against the USA, Republic of Ireland and Finland supported by Albert Stuivenberg.

“The Cymru squad for these upcoming matches will be announced on Thursday 5th November.

“The FAW will not be making any further comment at this current time.”

The Sun newspaper reported on Monday the inquiries related to an incident with his girlfriend Kate Greville.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman had said: “Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance.

“A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment.

“A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.”

Wales have a friendly against the USA at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium on 12 November.

Giggs’ representatives has reportedly said he denies all allegations of assault made against him and is co-operating with the police.

Wales face the USA in a friendly at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium on 12 November.

They then host the Republic of Ireland at the Cardiff City Stadium on 15 November and Finland on 18 November.
