Team Sky Confirm Doull Joining Team After Bradley Wiggins Slip

Owain Doull is joining Team Sky after the British outfit were forced to confirm Bradley Wiggins’ revelation.

The Cardiff-born rider will make the switch after this summer’s Olympics in Rio where he hopes to compete in the Team Pursuit.

Wiggins had revealed Doull would move from his own team during an interview Monday at the Tour of California where the duo are both competing.

Boss Dave Brailsford said: “We’re very happy to confirm that Owain will be coming over to Team Sky. He’ll be joining up with us after the Olympics.

“Brad has been pretty excited about having a rider coming over to us from his team and so we probably should have known he would let the cat out of the bag!

“I think it’s pretty self-explanatory why we wanted Owain at Team Sky.

“He has consistently put in excellent performances on the track and the road for a while now and we think he has the potential to be an important part of the team.

“From a personal perspective it’s always great to be bringing young British talent into Team Sky.

“It reflects very well on the investment and support Sky has provided through the British Cycling programme, the Wiggins team and, of course, Team Sky.”

Doull is expected to sign a two-year deal at Sky where he will link-up with fellow Cardiff-born riders Geraint Thomas and Luke Rowe.

The 23-year-old, who finished third on last year’s Tour of Britain, is on the short-list to ride for GB in the team pursuit at the Olympics alongside Wiggins.
