Tutton Blasts Into European Championships Final in London

Chloe Tutton stormed into her first major championships final with another stunning display in the 100metres breaststroke in London.

The Cardiff-based swimmer qualified for Wednesday’s European Championship final after winning her semi-final in the 2012 Olympic pool.

Tutton, 19, clocked one minute 07.69secs as she followed-up her victory in the heats earlier in the day.

The time was the fifth fastest of the qualifiers for the final with Olympic champ Ruta Meilutyte winning the other semi in a rapid 1:06.16.

Rhondda-born Tutton’s time was just 0.08secs outside the personal best she set earlier this year.

But it continues an incredible few months for Tutton who booked her Olympic Games ticket when powering to the the British 200m breaststroke title in Glasgow in April.

Tutton admitted: “It has been an insane few months for me and I can’t believe it.

“I never expected to keep it going as I’m in hard training for Rio so to come so close to my personal best is really something.

“I love this pool and I love the atmosphere here and going up against Ruta in the final I just cannot wait.
