Floodlit Delight For Under-15 Bluebirds In Cup

Cardiff City earned their first victory in the Premier League Youth Under-15 Floodlit Cup.

Goals from Taylor Jones (25 mins), Siyabonga Ligendza (75) and Ryan Kavanagh (79) earned the Bluebirds a 3-1 win at Coventry City.

Two goals in four minutes during the second half clinched it for City with Kavanagh, a pupil at Mary Immaculate High School in Cardiff, completing the win.

Manager Dane Facey and his under-15 Cardiff team are in a group which also includes West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City.

They have earned four points having drawn 0-0 against the Swans and suffered a heartbreak 2-1 defeat when they played Albion before travelling to Coventry.

The Under-15 Floodlit Cup is a big part of a Premier League programme designed to give players an experience of playing evening matches under floodlights.

Cardiff have produced three solid team performances in the competition and were unfortunate to go down against West Brom, having led 1-0 until the closing stages. The dismissal of Ethan Vaughn on a straight red card allowed the visitors to gain momentum in that fixture at Jenner Park, Barry.

Cardiff City under-15 squad: Leo Satherley, Ethan Vaughan, Ethan David, Rhys Schwank, Jack Masrani, Cris Dignadice, Owen Pritchard, Frazer Thomas, Ryan Kavanagh, Eli King, Siyabonga Ligendza, Jac Clay, Taylor Jones, Ntazana Mayembe, Gethin Foster, Jack Jenkins, Graham Hughes.
